A till that ends in the books

Scan, take the payment, hand over the receipt — and the day’s sales are in the accounting software by evening. Without anyone retyping them.

The app is finished and running. We are looking for shops and cafés whose daily work can shape what comes next.

Reached the accounting software 00:03 after payment

Why

The till closes at eight, the work does not

In most small shops and cafés the chain breaks twice: once between the till and the stock system, once between the till and the books. In both places the same information is typed again.

  1. Scan
  2. Pay
  3. Receipt
  4. Z report
  5. Accounting

A spreadsheet at the end of the day

The Z report is printed and retyped. Every retyping is a place where a number goes wrong — and it surfaces only when the month does not add up.

Products in two places

Prices are changed in the accounting software and then again in the till. Two lists drift apart within the first week.

The terminal keeps to itself

Card payments run on a separate device that does not know what was sold. At the end of the day two printouts are compared and hoped to match.

Register

A view you can actually stand behind

A cashier has their hands full and looks at the screen half a second at a time. The register view is built for that, not for a demo.

The scanner works without focus

A barcode reader pretends to be a keyboard. The cashier does not have to click anywhere first — and in a real shop they would not.

One product, several barcodes

The supplier changed the code but the old packaging is still on the shelf. A six-pack and a single bottle are the same product with different codes. All of them find the right line.

Weighed goods and open prices

0.482 kg at €3.99/kg is an ordinary line, not an exception. An open-price product asks for the amount before the line appears in the cart.

Several payments on one sale

Thirty in cash and the rest on a card. A gift card covers part of it. A single-payment till would leave half of the real sales impossible.

Park a sale

The customer went back for milk. The sale is parked and the next customer is served — a parked sale does not take a receipt number.

Shifts and Z reports

The day starts with an opening float and ends with counting the cash. The difference is stored — that is exactly what gets looked at.

Devices

The same view on four platforms

The register view is one web app that can be installed as an application. Not four codebases drifting apart.

Web

A browser, nothing to install.

Android

A tablet or phone, installed as an app.

iOS

An iPad on the counter, an icon on the home screen.

Windows

A desktop with a touchscreen or a mouse.

A device is bound to a register once. After that it identifies itself and the cashier signs in with four digits.

Self-checkout

A self-checkout that knows when to stop

Self-checkout is the same application with a different view. The person in front of the screen is a customer, not staff — and everything else follows from that.

Age-restricted goods stop the sale

A machine cannot check an ID and must not pretend it can. The sale waits and a staff member approves it with their PIN — by name, because approval is responsibility.

Cash only with a cash device

Without a cash unit the self-checkout does not offer cash as an option. A customer must not be left standing there with a banknote.

It never asks for a password

The kiosk identifies itself with a device key, not a login. A machine standing in the middle of a shop must not ask passers-by for a Movira password.

Payments

The terminal talks to the till

The till sends the amount to the terminal and gets an answer. The cashier does not type the amount twice and nobody compares two printouts at closing.

myPOS

  • The amount goes to the terminal from the till — no retyping
  • The answer arrives two ways: as a callback and on request
  • A refund goes back to the same card
  • Terminal not responding? The till says so instead of freezing

A till without a terminal keeps working — cash and manually confirmed card payments. The integration switches on once the contract is in place.

Accounting

Products in, sales out

Two directions, each switched on separately. In real life they often are: products come in every night, but sales are not sent until the chart of accounts is settled.

Products from the accounting software

Name, SKU, price, VAT, barcode and stock come from where they are kept anyway. Matching goes by SKU and barcode — never by name, because "bread" is three different products at three suppliers.

  • Merit Aktiva
  • SmartAccounts
  • CSV file

Directo and Erply integrations are planned.

Sales to the accounting software

Completing a sale queues a document; sending happens in the background. The till never stalls in front of a customer when the accounting software is slow or down — and no sale is lost while it is.

  • Daily summary: one document per day and register, broken down by VAT rate
  • Every receipt separately, if the accountant prefers it

CSV import always works, even with no integration at all. Every accounting package can export a file.

Reports

The numbers a till is kept for

Thirteen reports under one date range. Each of them also comes as an Excel file — an accountant wants a file, not a screenshot.

Margin is calculated from cost prices. Where a cost price is missing, the report says so — instead of showing a margin larger than it is.

  • Turnover by day and by hour
  • Sales by product and product group
  • Sales by register and by cashier
  • Payment methods and cash reconciliation
  • VAT by rate
  • Discounts and refunds
  • Shifts and cash differences
  • Stock levels and stock value
  • Loyalty customers and their turnover

Shared foundation

Separate apps, one foundation

This is a technical choice, not a marketing line. Movira apps share an authentication service, so one account opens all of them and permissions are managed in one place.

One person, several companies

The same account opens both companies’ tills. Someone working in two places does not need two accounts, or to remember which one they are in.

A cashier sees sales, not turnover

Default permissions here are deliberately narrow: sales and customers. Daily turnover, cost prices and stock sit behind separate permissions.

A shared customer registry

A customer stays a customer whether they sign a contract, rent a space or buy at the till. Sharing is an account setting and off by default.

Grow one app at a time

Start with the till. If rental or logistics is needed later, the account, users and customers are already there.
